Today I registered for the Summer Garden with Creative Women workshops at The Country Quilter in February. This will be two days of classes with Gail Pan, Rosalie Quinlan, Natalie Lymer and Rose Johnston all presenting new designs created especially for the occasion. Heaven. Having closely followed the blogs of all these wonderful designers since I discovered blogs last year, I know I will be in absolute awe. It will be especially nice to meet Rose who I have been talking to via email and blog comments.
February will be a very busy month. Last year when Tiger Airways had cheap flights to celebrate their introduction into Tasmania, my sister and I booked a weekend away in Melbourne. I made sure this coincided with the Australasian Quilt Convention - can't wait to see all the quilts on display and check out the Expo.
This afternoon I worked on the Tis the Season table runner - machine quilting through the centres of the nine-patch blocks and around the centre panel at 1 inch intervals. Just have the binding to do now. I started handquilting with perle cotton - horrible, then embroidery thread - still not happy! so in desperation got the machine out - ahh! Because I had intended to hand quilt I had basted with thread not safety pins. I thought this might cause problems when using the machine but I actually found it much easier and think I will thread baste again next time. There were no problems with the basting threads getting caught and they were really easy to remove at the end.
Your table runner is looking great! Well done! Have fun with the binding :o)
