Spotlight Quilt
Yesterday I got the sewing machine out and worked on this quilt that I call the Spotlight quilt. I call it this because I started making it to enter last years Spotlight Quilting Competition but didn't get it finished in time. You had to create a quilt 36" x 36" using fabric purchased at Spotlight. I liked the blue fabric with pink roses and just choose fat quarters that co-ordinated with it for the star blocks and borders.
My machine quilting is still very basic - read straight lines! I usually stitch in the ditch or quilt across blocks using quilting tape to guide me. This year I would like to try and at least master stippling. I think I will send some larger flimsies to get professionally quilted or they will sit in a box forever.
Here's where Oliver spent the afternoon yesterday. The quilt is made from Thimbleberries fabrics and disguises a rather disgusting old couch. I will show some pictures when I have time to de-cat it!
