Country Bloomers is finally finished! I can't remember when this was started - I am guessing 8 - 10 years ago. This certainly was a 'work in SLOW progress'. I had trouble photographing this - just couldn't get the right light.
I think my favourite bloomers are the stripey Tuesday ones, but they're far too nice for housework. Note that patchwork has it's own special day - very sensible.
With assistance from Oliver, the Spotlight quilt is also nearly done. Just have to hand sew the binding to the back - a good job to do while watching TV. Here is Oliver preparing the binding strips - he thought under the table was a far more suitable place to do this! I think he is making sure we will have enough fabric!
And here he is 'assisting' with trimming the excess batting and backing from the quilt top. He really does love to get in and feel the fabrics.
I just love this, I wonder if it could be photographed for a card...it screams card to me-love those patchwork bloomers.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and leaving a comment. I have never heard of penguin as a place...sounds gorgeous-have to be on the beaCH!What do you teach? Tracey
I love the country bloomers... I used to do free-form embroidery years ago. I was not much good at it, but it was fun. Unfortunately, nearly 40 years of bashing keyboards has given me tendonitis, so I find small precise movements very difficult, so I had to stop:-(
ReplyDeleteNice to meet another NW-coaster. I'm at Latrobe.
I really love it when you share pictures of Oliver with your quilts. My Callie is just like that. Always right in there helping me. She thinks my cutting mat is her personal lounging area. LOL Loving you blog.

Great idea to finish a cross stitch. I actually have a lot of WISP cross stitch in my attic that was abandoned totally when I started quilting. Hmmmmm.....perhaps I should go and have a look, and do as you :)
ReplyDeleteThis wisp is also registered now .
hey this looks great and now it is finished.......love the hanger too.......
ReplyDeleteOhhh how cute is Oliver??? ( i used to have a Colourpoint/ Siamese named Oliver and he was the most adorable cat)....do u hire him out for quilting advice??? lol. Great job on the Country Bloomers finish!!! Ill take a week of Thursdays, anyday!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my! This is just gorgeous. I haven't cross-stitched in forever and now you've given me a yearning to do something. As for your Oliver, my Bo is the same. She gets hypnotised by the sewing machine, not too close though.
ReplyDeleteSorry, nothing sinister removing my post, just accidentally double posted.
ReplyDeleteI love this so much!!! It is a great quilt!!!
ReplyDeleteYour Oliver is a gorgeous boy. He really does look like my cat Habibi, only mine is chubbier and scruffier looking - I think it comes from being a stray street kitty for a year before we adopted him in Cairo. Amazing how similar their markings are. By the way, love the name of your town. Penguin (not too mention Tasmania) - I'd sooo have to put that in my quilts.
ReplyDeleteHi Christine, please look at my blog, I gave you a "you make my day" award...
ReplyDeleteThe bloomers are very cute. It reminds me of a cross-stiched project I have somewhere in a basket (or shall I say I have had in a basket for the last 4 or 5 years!)
ReplyDeleteI like very much your fabric choices. Here is a link for inspiration on using the repro fabrics: http://www.baumtextile.com/projects/index.shtml
Take care.
What a fantastic job you have done, the hanger...wow....
ReplyDeleteOMG Chrsitine! Just love the washing line and I think Tuesday is my favourite too!! Just love the hanger as well!!
ReplyDeleteOh it looks sooo pretty! Seeing this made me remember I have that pattern- somewhere... I got it in Florida waaay back when I was pregnant with my almost 14 yr. old I think. Great job- I haven't even started yet (and I had totally forgotten about it too)
ReplyDeleteThe Country Bloomers is very beautiful, love it...
ReplyDeleteIt is realy worth using all this years finishing it, congratulation!
