Heartfelt Home

This morning I worked on my 2013 Designer Mystery Block of the Month quilt from the Fat Quarter Shop. I have seen block nine on a couple of blogs this week so thought I'd better get block eight done before it arrives here.

Block 8 - Heartfelt Home by Polly Minick and Laurie Simpson

I love these Avalon fabrics soooo much.

During the week I also found some pockets of time to work on Scandinavian Rose. I am determined to finish this project this year. Hope everyone is having a great weekend ... mine seems to be flying by!

A Little Bit of Progress

Since returning to work time to stitch has been very limited. However this weekend I finished another Scandinavian Rose block so a little progress has been made.

I am not very fond of satin stitch so I'm only using it for the circles.

I only have four more blocks to stitch before I can start assembling the quilt. Unfortunately I seem to have left the biggest blocks with the most stitching to last. The good thing is that the blocks are pre-printed on hanky linen so there's no tedious tracing to do. Tonight I managed to start stitching  this birdie block. I figure every stitch is one closer to finishing this project.

Little Patchwork Village

Over the last week I sewed down the binding on my Little Patchwork Village quilt. Looking back through my blog archives I discovered that the top was finished in January 2010!!

I remember seeing the quilt and buying the pattern at the Australasian Quilt Convention in  Melbourne in March 2009.

I have always loved Rosalie Quinlan's designs and this is one of my favourites.

I always enjoy stitching her designs, particularly when they involve lots of redwork.

I was going to quilt it myself but last year decided to send it up to Sarah instead.

I didn't want the quilting to overwhelm the embroidered blocks so choose a large all-over stipple.

In making this quilt I was able to indulge my enduring love of red, white and pink.

I choose the red check used in the centre block for the binding.

My current Rosalie Quinlan project is Scandinavian Rose. Hopefully it doesn't take me quite as long to finish.
