Bibelot

It's not quilted yet but I have finished the top of my version of Bibelot, the March quilt for Another Year of Schnibbles.

Bibelot can be made from two charm packs. I chose to cut my own 5 inch squares rather than using a particular range ... I love the scrappiness that results.

Aqua, red and grey (with white) is a colour combination I love at the moment. I am gradually building a nice little stash of grey fabrics to use in future projects.

I changed the setting slightly by using sashing between the blocks and rows. In the pattern they are built in as part of the block but I wasn't coping with the randomness so opted for a more ordered approach. My border is also a little different to accommodate the slightly smaller size of the centre.

I am very happy with the finished top and keen to try a larger quilt in these colours soon .... maybe Swoon.

I am having some issues with my home computer .. it is off at the 'doctors' this week. Luckily I had a few posts saved so I can bring you my next lot of hexies.

Heavenly Hexies 1

In between other projects, I have been slowly making the hexies for my Vignette Hexagon quilt. I thought it might be fun to do a weekly post to keep track of my progress ... I am aiming for a hexie a day. Some of these you have already seen but I hope you won't mind indulging me as I work my while through the ever-growing pile.

I am planning to make my quilt bigger than the original so will need to make 196 hexie flowers. I am going to be busy for quite a while yet!

Christmas Fun

This weekend I started my Christmas Fun quilt. It is a Lynette Anderson design I purchased last year as a block of the month from Sarah. Each month I received a pattern including a hand painted button. There are eight Ohio Star blocks in the quilt each measuring 3 inches. I decided to make all eight while I was feeling motivated. They were a bit fiddly but turned out ok. The fabrics are Glace by 3 Sisters ... I still have plenty of scraps in this range.

I have prepared 3 of the blocks ready to stitch in the evenings ... Cookies,

 The Pudding and ...

 Christmas Cottage.

The weather was gorgeous here this weekend. I have enjoyed pottering about in an out of the sewing room. Hope your weekend was a good one too.

Red, White and Blue

I belong to a quilting group called Material Girls. There are only six of us and last year we each made the others a small gift for their birthdays. It was so much fun we decided to do it again this year. Vicki chose red, white and blue for her theme and I made her this little bag from a tutorial posted by Sherri of A Quilting Life.

All the fabrics were from my stash and include Bliss, Lecien basics and some Lakehouse and Denyse Schmidt fabrics. I managed to get it finished in a single afternoon and was very pleased with the finished product.

I took these photos on my recently painted kitchen dresser.

Today I started my March Schnibble quilt. February's didn't happen but I am determined to be more productive this month. Tomorrow is a holiday in Tasmania so hoping to get into the sewing room again.
