2012 Mystery Blocks - 10, 11 and 12

Sewing and stitching time has been very scarce lately. This morning I was determined to spend some time with my sewing machine piecing the final blocks for my Fat Quarter Shop mystery quilt.

Block 10 - Sunday Drive designed by Polly Minick and Laurie Simpson

Block 11 - Country Folk designed by Julie Comstock

Block 12 - April Showers designed by Sweetwater.

I have already pieced some of the borders so hopefully it won't be too long before I'll be back with some finished top pictures to share.

A Finished Schnibble ... Roundabout

Way back in July 2012 I pieced the top for Roundabout ... my choice for that month's Another Year of Schnibbles.
The fabrics are all from the Pom Pom di Paris range by French General.

During the summer holidays, I quilted it myself - straight lines 1/4 inch inside most seams.

With the quilting I was trying to emphaisze the 'roundaboutness' of the blocks ...

which kind of got lost with some of my fabric placement.

Not sure how successful I was but it's still a sweet little quilt.

I used the birdie toile fabric from the range for the backing.

Happy Mother's Day to all the mums out there. My family is coming for tea tonight so I'd better get off the computer and start cooking!

Vintage Modern Table Runner

I made two of these runners for friends last Christmas. It was such an easy and effective pattern that I just had to make myself one too.

I chose to make mine from Vintage Modern by Bonnie and Camille.

The light fabric with the spot works perfectly as the backgound ...

to the red, pink, aqua and grey prints.

I love to use pretty fabrics on the backs of my projects ... this one is a stunner.

The pattern is Little Charmers 7 by Heather Mulder Peterson. There are 3 different runners included in the pattern.
Back to school tomorrow ... why do the holidays always go so fast?

Gifts for Jenny

Jenny from Friends in Stitching had a birthday earlier this week and it was my turn to make her gifts. For the main gift, I choose to make the True Friends Tote Bag from Natalie Bird's Red Home book.I changed the wording on the bag to fit the theme of this years FIS birthday swap

Front and ...

back.

Ric-rac detail on front.

I also made Jenny a pincushion ...

 and a thread basket.

As Jenny loves the olde worlde/vintage style I used fabrics from the Luna Notte collection by 3 Sisters.
