Gifts for Peg

Today I am sharing the gifts I made for Peg in our Friends in Stitching Christmas swap. This hanging angel is a Rosalie Quinlan design from her little Christmas book, Petit .. Noel. I struggled a bit with the ric-rac but got there in the end!

For the main Christmas Day present I made Peg the table runner version of Painted Ladies by Fig Tree.

I used Honey Sweet  for the butterfly wings ...

and Butterscotch and Rose for the posts, butterfly bodies and  border.

I find that Fig Tree ranges mix really well together.

The lovely Sarah did the quilting on her long arm quilting machine. I chose the butterfly design as pictured below. The backing fabric is a Henry Glass neutral I found at Spotlight a few years ago.

I have done quite a bit of sewing since Christmas and will pop back soon to show what I've been doing. It is so nice to have some 'me' time after such a busy year.
Happy New Year.

Christmas Gifts

I belong to an online group called Friends in Stitching. I received some lovely gifts from Leanne in our annual Christmas Swap. Firstly, this beautiful wall hanging made from Fig Tree fabrics .. mostly Avalon, I think.

Isn't it gorgeous. I love these fabrics so much!

The little birdie is so cute.

Leanne also sent me these lovely Tilda fat quarters ... I was very spoilt! I have plans for these but for now they have been added to my Tilda box.

In the lead up to Christmas we exchanged gifts starting with the letters of S.A.N.T.A.

These are my S (Santa) ...

and A (antler) presents.

Thank you, Leanne. I love everything you made for me. Next post I will share what I made for Peg.

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and wish you well for the New Year. I don't usually make New Year resolutions but I do hope to blog more regularly in 2014.

2011 Mystery Quilt

Today I'm sharing my finished 2011 Designer Mystery Quilt from the Fat Quarter Shop. It is a huge quilt and was not very easy to photograph. It is made from one of my favourite Fig Tree ranges, Strawberry Fields and was quilted by my lovely friend, Leanne. Enjoy.

I love making these mystery quilts and have nearly finished the binding on my 2012 quilt .. pictures soon.

Another Schnibble Quilt Finished

I have been trying to finish up some of the Schnibble quilts I pieced last year. This one is called Doc and features the Card Trick block.

All fabrics are from Tanya Whelan's Delilah collection.

I was pleased to discover I had enough of this pretty floral to use for the backing.

Along with spots I also love to use stripes for bindings.

I'm still working on 'secret sewing' so nothing else to share today. Someone told me in the supermarket this morning that it's only 58 days til Christmas ... eech!

Leap Year - Finished

Last year I joined in Another Year of Schnibbles and pieced this Leap Year quilt.

I quilted it myself with lots of straight lines and am very pleased with how it turned out.

The fabrics are a mix of Vintage Modern and Ruby by Bonnie and Camille.

I love spotty bindings, especially in red ...

and also have an addiction to pictures of rolled up quilts!

Hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend. I have been doing some 'secret sewing' for the rapidly approaching Christmas season.

End of the Trip

This week I have been doing some major de-cluttering ahead of a family garage sale next weekend. While sorting through mountains of 'stuff' I realised I have a couple of finished quilts that I haven't blogged about yet. So today I'm sharing my Scrappy Trip-Around-the-World quilt started in January this year after the pattern become so popular in 'blogland.'

I used lots of my favourite Bonnie and Camille fabrics ...

including Ruby, Maramalade and Vintage Modern.

It was quilted by Leanne who works at Esme's in Launceston.

The backing and binding both use delicious Ruby fabrics.

Now back to the sorting!

2013 Designer Mystery Quilt

Once again, I signed up for the Designer Mystery BOM from the Fat Quarter Shop.

Block One - Strawberry Picking by Joanna Figueroa of Fig Tree Quilts

Block Two - Bows and Baskets by Sandy Gervais of Pieces From My Heart

Block Three - Wildflower Bouquet by Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts

Block Four - Radiance by Bonnie Olaveson of Cotton Way and Camille Roskelley of Thimble Blossoms.

The patterns for these quilts are always easy to follow ... I love the pressing instructions for every seam. Fat Quarter Shop is also very generous with the amount of fabric included with each block.
