Three Cheers for Fray Stoppa

Yesterday I used the Fray Stoppa on my next Angel block and was delighted with the results. I applied it carefully to the outer edges of the block with a sponge brush and there was no fraying at all as I stitched. A huge thanks to the brilliant bloggers who told me about this product.

Now without further ado, here is Libby the Librarian. (Sorry the photo is so dark!)

Libby likes to sing verses from Okaloma. In her opinion, the acoustics in the library are excellent! (Brings back memories of practising the trombone in the bathroom ... always sounded good in there!)

In amongst my other projects I have been trying to finish my Quilter's Blessings blocks. These are a couple I finished over the weekend.

Only 3 left to stitch now ... then to decide on a setting.

  6. Libby is absolutely gorgeous. Glad you found something that stopped your work fraying. It gets frustrating and potentially ruins all your hard work otherwise!

  8. Libby is looking amazing. I love your colors, which fabrics did you use. I'm also making the Quilters Blessings, but I have 8 to go. And then how to finish it. I think I am going to use bright colors.

  13. I'm so pleased the Fray Stoppa is so successful. I giggled when you mentioned practising the Trombone in the bathroom. I remember us both practising our Trombones - each sitting on a toilet (lid down!!!) at the bandrooms. That loo had the best acoustics!!
    Aaaah Memories! LOL

  22. I like the pink polka dot skirt!
Does the fray stoppa make the edges of the fabric stiff?

  23. Libby is very cute! That is going to be a wonderful quilt.

  24. Just be careful fray stop can discolour after a few years, I used on reverse applique and it went hard and yellow in colour.

So I would only use it on a seam allowance.

    cheers

ps. don't want to scare you but you are putting a lot of work in your stitchery.

  29. I just started the quilter's blessings myself and love yours done in blue. I've only been at it a few weeks and am amazed at how much I LOVE doing redwork or stitchery what ever you call it..

I only keep my hoop in my car and stitch while I wait to pick up my daughter from Preschool (pics on my blog) and boy do I ever look forward to gettig there a little early each day so I can get my stitch fix :) LOL

...and your ANGEL blocks!!!! OHmygoodness I may love those even more than my currnet quilter's blessings. Especially your soft colors! Beautiful!!! I followed the link to the person you siad designed them but didn't find these same angel blocks anywhere on that site... was it a pattern you purchased? a BOM no longer available??? maybe I didn't look in the right place.

after I complete my new technique, redwork, - next year I will work on learning applique ;) and thanks to you, I think I have found a great inspriation!

    Love from Texas! ~bonnie
