Quite pleased with my machine quilting ... even though it's still all straight lines. I'd love to be able to do swirls and stippling but I'm always scared of ruining the project.
I love Heather Mulder Peterson's patterns and was pleased to discover recently that she has a blog called Trends and Traditions. Definitely worth a visit ... lots of beautiful quilts and fabrics to see and her quilting studio is amazing.
Hi Christine,
ReplyDeletethe tablerunner is gorgeous! I love the quilting design you chose, I think it's just perfect for this project.
As for stippling: just try it, I think it's easier than all those straight lines.
Hugs, Julia
Its gorgeous sweetie and happy birthday to your mum!! I agree with Julia, just give stippling a try...maybe practice on a larger scrap for awhile, then relax, breathe and have fun!!

ReplyDeleteLovely tablerunner Christine and Julia is right stippling is easy, just do a bit of practise first and you will be fine to use it on a project. Loops are even easier!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your Mum! I love the table runner and your quilting is superb! I think it looks just great the way you quilted it and doesn't need anything else.
ReplyDeleteYour quilting is perfect! Straight lines are much harder and more time consuming than stippling. Your fabric choices are beautiful.

ReplyDeleteChristine, it's wonderful! I think the quilting you did is perfect for it. I'm very nervous about trying to do stipple or free motion quilting too -- and never quite work up the nerve to try!

I love your tablerunner, and your quilting is beautiful as well. I just made my mom for her birthday also...and I'm planning on making several more! Love this pattern!
ReplyDeleteAuntie, your runners look great! There is a LOT to be said for nice straight lines. Some designs cry out for straight lines. One thing for sure: they take a lot of patience. I haven't yet learned to do them. hmmm, I wonder what that says.
ReplyDeleteChristine...wow just gorgeous, the quilting is just amazing ...your mum will love it.
ReplyDeleteYour Mum must be thrilled to receive a beautiful present like that. It is just gorgeous. Well done.

ReplyDeleteSet yourself up with some scraps and give free motion quilting a go, it's worth it! I practiced on a rectangle that became my cat's quilt mat, and she loves it.

Love the straight line quilting, on the tablerunner. Stippling would have been a mistake.
ReplyDeleteFirst time commenting on your blog. Absolutely love your work and the color choices you make. If it helps, I have been quilting a long time and I still can't stipple! I've tried and I've taken classes. Probably don't practice enough but for now, I'm blaming the machine!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful! It's no wonder your mum wants another, she is such a lucky mum to have such a talented daughter to make such lovely gifts!
ReplyDeleteHemmingHouse is such a lovely range too.
