A Bag for Peg

This is the bag I made for Peg in our latest FIS (Friends in Stitching) swap. Our bags had to contain either needle-turn applique or stitchery AND a trim (frill, lace, ric rac etc).

I used a  Simply Pretty Bag pattern by Threadbare Creations, substituting a stitchery block from Rosalie Quinlan's Little Patchwork Village for the pieced star block in the original.

The fabrics are a mix of Allspice Tapestry and Patisserie. I like to mix ranges up a bit sometimes.

The strips are all 1 1/2 or 2 1/2  inches wide so it's a good pattern for using up bits of leftover Jelly Rolls and Honey Buns.

I was lucky to find this button hiding in my 'shabby' button collection .. just about matches the ric-rac perfectly.

Looking forward to making another one soon ... it looked so nice hanging in my sewing room!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend .. Vicki, Sarah, Roseanne and I are meeting at Latrobe tomorrow. A visit to a quilt shop, lunch and some more bag reveals are on the agenda. Should be fun.

FIS Birthday Quilt

My Friends in Stitching Birthday Quilt is ready to be quilted.

I borrowed the stitchery for the centre block from a Bareroots pattern ...

just changed the wording.

Hopefully it will get quilted over the weekend so I can count it for this month's OPAM.

Short and sweet tonight! Will be back soon.

Tail Feathers

After months of procrastinating Tail Feathers is finally underway with block 1 completed today.

I enjoyed stitching each of the mini blocks. This one's called 'Tree of Delight.'

Even the satin stitch was fun!

The block below is called 'Those Love Birds.'

A mix of stitchery and applique keeps it interesting and I LOVE working with the Patisserie fabrics. Nine blocks to go!

Tomorrow I'll be posting a parcel off to Peg for our latest Friends in Stitching swap. Photos soon ... I promise.  This week is the last week off term in Tasmania so fingers crossed I'll get this blog active again during the holidays.

Claudine

The snout in the last post belonged to Claudine. She is a Melly and Me design and will be going to live with my niece Tali.

The  purple is Tali's choice ... not my favourite colour but I don't mind it in these prints.

The wraparound skirt is reversible. I had trouble machine appliqueing the face pieces so did them all by hand ... turned out quite cute.

Oliver doesn't know what to make of her!

He didn't want to sit up close ...was content to eye her off from a distance!

I finished another project today but as it is for a swap I can't share it just yet. Feels good to have two things finished already after April's rather slack effort!

One Little Finish

Yes, I have just one finish this month. The stitchery for this bon-bon was done back in January but then I moved on to other things before making it up. Sound familiar!!

This one is for me as I gave away all the others I made at Christmas.

Here's a peek at something I hope to finish over the weekend. I have several projects nearly finished so maybe May will be a more productive month.

Peace and Plenty - A Work in Progress

Thanks for all the welcome back comments. I thought I'd post again while I was still motivated.

This is a stitchery I've been working at, on and off, for a while now.

It's another Leanne Beasely design and is called Peace and Plenty.

Leanne's sample is all in red but I felt like some colour for a change.

Although it looks rather grey in the photos, it is actually stitched on white Kona cotton.

I've just realised it's nearly the end of April and I haven't finished anything this month! There are plenty of UFOs in progress but I'm not sure whether I can finish anything by Friday night. Wish me luck!

I'm Back!

Long time no see! I  lost the stitching plot for a while but have started to get back into it as time/health permits. Below are a couple more New Years Eve star blocks this time in the blue Aviary colourway.

I have a few gifts to make in the next month or so .. this might become one of them. I have a tendency to change my mind a lot!

I keep each of my current projects in sturdy plastic crates. Oliver though this one looked like the perfect spot for a siesta.

And of course, Molly was close by. She thinks she's his mother ... funny old thing!

Will try and post again soon.

Two Brown Chickens

Two Brown Chickens designed by Leanne Beasley is my last finish for March.

Folk art paint transformed a tired old frame

Oliver performed his usual inspections ... what a sticky beak!

Only one more day of work before our Easter holidays start ... I'm really looking forward to the break. I  plan to work on some of my many UFOs.

Ann's New Years Eve Star Blocks

Yesterday I made this block for my Friends in Stitching block of the month quilt.

It is called Ann's New Years Eve Star. This month it was Peg's turn to select the block  ... a great choice, Peg.

I was so pleased with my Rouenneries version that I grabbed an Aviary jelly roll and charm pack and made two more blocks.

A bit naughty as I have so many other things on the go but I really was inspired!

While I had the blocks outside to photograph, the 'quilt inspector' carried out his examination! He was very thorough ... checking every seam and point very closely!

I plan to piece some more blocks over Easter ... haven't really got a plan ... this will be a make it up as I go project.
